BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT

BCS is a professional body based in the UK with a royal charter for raising standards of IT education, professionalism, ethics and practice.

I am currently a committee member of the organisations Inclusion committee serving a 2 year term from September 2025-2027. The committee works to support the community board and the organisation as a whole on inclusive practice.

A lot of my previous work with BCS was with the NeurodiverseIT specialist group as their R&D Liaison. In that role I worked as part of their committee to provide knowledge on research around neurodivergence and technology to inform the groups work. I also organised an event at Lancaster for the group to talk to computing students about neurodivergent experience in industry.

The image shows a group of people stood together after an event.

I also spent a year on the committee of the ICT Ethics specialist group. In that role I again worked to bring my experience and specialist knowledge to encourage inclusive and accessible practice, while also supporting ethical standards in industry.
